INDUCTOTHERM HISTORY

INDUCTOTHERM'S HISTORY

Henry M. RowanHenry M. Rowan, with the help of his wife, Betty, built the first Inductotherm furnace in his home's garage in 1953. It was a 60 lb. coreless furnace. The following year, Inductotherm got its formal start, operating from borrowed space in Harcast Foundry, in Glenolden, Pennsylvania.

When Inductotherm was launched, induction melting was already accepted by the foundryman, but its expense and other limitations put it beyond the reach of many small foundries. Through continuous innovation, Inductotherm expanded the applications for induction power, making it economical and practical for more and more foundries of all sizes throughout the world.

In 1955, Inductotherm opened its own factory in Delanco, NJ, quickly outgrowing the space there. In 1961 it built and moved into its present home in Rancocas, NJ, a rural area about 15 miles northeast of Philadelphia. It offered ample room for growth and direct access to the NJ Turnpike and later to Interstate 295.

It was the dedication and determination of Henry "Hank". Rowan that created this revolution in the industry. He established Inductotherm’s core values of superior customer service, excellence in product design, advanced technology, high quality and reliability. And as it helped the industry grow, Inductotherm grew in size and scope.

To ensure maximum uptime of each customer's installation, Inductotherm created a highly mobile service team organized around a fleet of company-owned aircraft, often the only way to reach many customers quickly. Inductotherm was providing overnight parts delivery to its customers long before there was a Federal Express.

Today Inductotherm has its own airstrip behind corporate headquarters where its private airplanes are ready to serve the customer.

In 1963 Inductotherm begin exploring opportunities for growth in international markets and to date has established subsidiaries in 14 countries.

Today, with more than 15,000 induction melting installations around the globe, Inductotherm has become the world leader in induction melting technology. Inductotherm manufactures a complete line of coreless and channel type induction melting systems with furnace capacities ranging from troy ounces to hundreds of tons, and power supplies from 15 kW to 42,000 kW.

However, Inductotherm is far more than an induction melting equipment manufacturer. The product line has been expanded to provide complete melt shop systems, including charging and preheating systems, melting and holding systems, automatic pouring systems and computer control systems.

As Inductotherm has embraced new technologies and processes, the people at Inductotherm have never forgotten those values that brought their company to the position of world leader. The most important value is a dedication to customer service.

This commitment to understanding the needs and concerns of the foundryman has allowed Inductotherm to keep its finger on the pulse of the industry. At Inductotherm, the demands and challenges of the metalcasting market are met head-on with innovative, reliable, design and technology and a continued commitment to customer service.
